SBP Candidate Personal Statement: Zahra King

Zahra King, Writer

Hey all! I am Zahra King and I am applying for the SBP position for the 2023-2024 school year. I am applying for the SBP position because I truly believe I can help make Westtown truly feel like home. It is really important for students to have a student leader in the SBP position who they can trust and rely on to relay issues they have to administration. I’ve been at Westtown for 3 years and my experience has varied throughout the pandemic. I have had some of the greatest memories at westtown but there have also been moments where I questioned my belonging at Westtown. Throughout my years at Westtown, I have always been heavily involved with the community and I have taken pride in building relationships between both faculty and students. I take pride in developing lifelong relationships with people and ensuring people feel that I am genuine and always available in times of need. To me, being elected SBP is more than just a position. It is an opportunity to make life at Westtown exciting, lively, and most importantly a safe space for everyone who goes here. I want you all to have faith in me that if there’s an issue, you can count on me to work diligently to solve those problems. If I did not love this community I would have not stayed here this long and also reclass and do extra year. The extra year has given me another year to grow and mature, especially grow mentally, which makes me an even better candidate for SBP next year. It has allowed me to see the potential that Westtown has and want to make strides to make it a place where everyone loves. Being a Student Body President is a position where I can be looked upon as a role model to all people in the upper school . As SBP, I want to help build great foundations for arguably the most formative years of our lives. Should I be appointed to the SBP position I would work hand in hand with faculty and administration to ensure that the Westtown experience is second to none.
